In Chacras de Coria and lower Maipú the bodegas sit a few kilometres apart on flat roads lined with poplars, and a bicycle is the pleasant way to move between three of them. In the Uco Valley they are twenty kilometres apart on open road with the wind off the mountains. The bicycle is a lovely way to move in one of them, and the other is better enjoyed from a vehicle.
Flat, shaded, short distances and a bodega every few kilometres. A morning of riding and tasting here is one of the best things Mendoza does, and it needs no fitness at all.

Ninety minutes from the city, several hundred metres higher, with long open stretches between estates and afternoon wind. It is a driving valley, and it rewards you far more with the windows down than from the saddle.

The tastings are generous and the roads are shared with traffic. Sensible days ride in the morning, taste through the middle and finish with lunch rather than getting back on the bicycle afterwards.
