The first visit, and the easiest logistics
Higher, cooler and newer: the valley where the ambitious wineries went. Sharper wines, bigger views, and an hour’s drive from the city of Mendoza.
Where the tastings get serious
The highest vineyards in Argentina and the home of torrontes, a white that only tastes like this at altitude. It pairs with the red rock of the northern valleys.
Reached from Salta, not from Mendoza
Mendoza has its own page at Mendoza wine tours, and the northern vineyards live at Cafayate wine tours. Or tell us your dates and we will build the route bodega by bodega.
Two windows matter here: the harvest, and the months when the vines are green and the weather holds. The rest of the year the bodegas are open, but the vineyard is asleep.
Mendoza picks from late February through April, with Malbec in Lujan de Cuyo peaking in March. The Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia is the first week of March.
Book early: it is the busiest month
The Uco Valley and the highest sites ripen after the valley floor, sometimes into May. The same rule puts the altitude of Cafayate on its own calendar.

Flowering and the first growth, warm days, long light and far fewer visitors than in March. The mountain backdrop is still snow-capped.
The quiet alternative to the harvest
Months in orange are the harvest and the green season. Harvest timing shifts by two to three weeks from year to year with the season, so we confirm the picking dates for your bodegas when we quote.
