Riding here is a day at an estancia, not a week in the saddle

Argentina does not really do the point-to-point riding holiday where you change horses and camp somewhere new each night. What it does have is the estancia: a working ranch where you ride out for a few hours with the people who work the stock, and where the rest of the trip is whatever the region is known for. Four regions offer it and they have almost nothing in common.

The pampas

Gaucho country, and the flattest of it

Outside Buenos Aires the estancias sit on open grassland, which is where the gaucho image comes from in the first place. It is the easiest one to add to a trip, since it is a day out of the city and back.

Closest to the city

Iberá

Riding between the lagoons

In the wetlands the horse is a way of covering ground that a boat cannot, which makes it the one place where riding is a real alternative rather than an add-on. Wildlife rather than scenery: capybara, caiman, marsh deer.

Where the horse earns its place

Patagonia

Steppe on one side, forest on the other

El Calafate rides out across open steppe on a working sheep station. Bariloche rides through beech forest on a lake shore. Both are a half day at most, sitting inside a trip that is really about glaciers or lakes.

Two very different rides

The Patagonian pair is compared at Patagonia horseback riding, the wetlands at Iberá wetlands tours, and the estancia day out of the capital at Buenos Aires tours.

What Your Argentina Trip Includes

Every quote we send lists this in writing, trip by trip. As a rule, this is how an Argentina package is built.

Included

In every package

Hotels selected and checked by our team; private transfers between airports, hotels and excursions; excursions with English-speaking local guides; entrance fees to the national parks listed in your itinerary; daily breakfast and the meals marked day by day; a local WhatsApp support line for the whole trip.

Not included

Said upfront

International flights to and from Argentina; travel insurance; meals not marked in the itinerary; personal expenses and gratuities; optional activities, which we price in writing beforehand. Domestic flights between regions are quoted separately or included depending on the package, and your quote states which, with the amount. Argentina is a long country and these flights matter to the total, so we never leave them implied.

One closed day does not undo a route

Argentina runs four thousand kilometres from north to south, so weather is always local. When a storm holds a boat in Patagonia or rain cuts a road in the northwest, we move that visit inside your itinerary and bring forward whatever works that day. Wherever the schedule allows, we rebook the highlight inside your trip at no extra cost.

Tell us when you can travel. We will build the route.
