Prices are per person, from, for the 2026 to 2027 season. Per day is a comparison aid, not how the trip is billed. Every itinerary is tailor-made and quoted individually.
The walking is identical. What changes is who holds the reservations, who carries the food and who decides what happens when the weather turns on the second day. That is worth more to some people than to others, and the gap between the two is large enough that it deserves an honest explanation rather than a footnote.
Refugio beds on the W sell out months ahead and cannot be moved once bought. A guided trip absorbs that, carries the catering and makes the call on a bad morning. Self guided hands all three back to you.
Three things, not one
You book the refugios or the campsites yourself, in the right order, and you live with the itinerary you chose in April. It works well for people who have done multi day walks before and badly for people who have not.
Do it if you have done it
Puerto Natales to the park and back each day gets you the towers, the lake and the horns without a pack. It is the option nobody mentions, and for a lot of travellers it is the right one.
The underrated choice
The unguided routes are at Patagonia hiking and trekking, the Argentine side at El Chaltén hiking, and the country-wide picture at Argentina hiking trips.

Every quote we send lists this in writing, trip by trip. As a rule, this is how a Patagonia package is built.
Hotels selected and checked by our team; private transfers between airports, hotels and excursions; excursions with English-speaking local guides; entrance fees to Los Glaciares and Tierra del Fuego national parks; daily breakfast and the meals marked day by day; a local WhatsApp support line for the whole trip.
International flights to and from Argentina; travel insurance; meals not marked in the itinerary; personal expenses and gratuities; optional activities, which we price in writing beforehand. Domestic flights inside Patagonia are quoted separately or included depending on the package, and your quote states which, with the amount, so the total is clear before you book.
Patagonian wind changes plans, and we plan for it. Every key day has a same-region backup: if the wind closes the glacier boat, you see Perito Moreno from the walkways instead; if the Fitz Roy viewpoint is in cloud, we swap days inside your itinerary. Wherever the schedule allows, we rebook the highlight inside your trip at no extra cost.
