Itinerary

<span>Day 1</span>El Calafate - El Chaltén: Petrified Forest (Shared) (Full Day)

We start from El Calafate to the Parador La Leona (historic site), where we stop for 15 minutes and continue our journey until we reach the slope of Cerro Los Hornos. When we arrived in the forest, we began a 3-hour fossil exploration walk, including lunch time. The visitor will be able to see a large number of petrified trunks and fossil remains of different types of dinosaurs. The site is sheltered from the wind, is very dry and the weather conditions are generally very pleasant. At the end of the walk, we return to Calafate along the same path. Ideal for people who like outdoor activities, adventure and discovering new places

What to wear? Comfortable shoes, jackets or windbreakers, warm clothing, hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Frequency: Every day from October to April — Minimum 2 passengers.

Duration: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT: For those passengers who do not return to El Calafate, and continue to El Chaltén, they must wait for the Chalten travel bus at the La Leona hostel. Estimated wait time 1 hour. The bus leaves them at the bus station in El Chaltén. For those passengers who do not want to wait 1 hour for the bus, we recommend booking the tour in private with private transfers.

Overnight in El Chaltén: Poincenot Hotel, Senderos Hostería, Destino Sur Hotel (or similar).

<span>Day 2</span>El Chaltén Highlights program: A tour of the classic viewpoints of El Chaltén

A tour of the classic viewpoints of El Chaltén.

Introduction: An excellent option for 3 full days of trekking exploring the classic trails near El Chaltén, including an ascent to the remote Loma del Diablo, one of Sebastiao Salgado's favorite sites for his work “Genesis”. In addition, they will have the opportunity to spend a night in the mountains in a charming Eco Lodge and another night in an organized camp in front of Fitz Roy Hill.

Level of difficulty: beginner Level of physical effort: moderate Total duration: 3 days/2 nights.

Los Huemules Reserve - Loma del Diablo: We started the tour in a vehicle that takes us to the starting point of our trekking located just 20km from the town in the Los Huemules nature reserve. In the reserve we have multiple hiking options to choose from. After a short visit to the Visitor Center to register, we began our walk to Loma del Diablo (1790 meters) to make an intense ascent of 1200 meters of slope to the summit or we can choose to reach the viewpoint located above the vegetation line at 1050 meters high. If we choose a less intense trekking or on days of bad weather, we can explore the Blue and Green lagoons connecting with the valley that leads to the Diablo Lagoon and thus avoid climbing. On the way back we will spend the night in a beautiful Eco Lodge in cabins with private bathrooms and a hot tub to relax on the shores of the Condor Lagoon.

Pick up time: 8am. Distance: 16 km +500/-500 (to the viewpoint). Duration: 7/8 hours. Level of physical demand: moderate. Services: night in a cabin with private bathroom and all meals included.

<span>Day 3</span> El Chaltén Highlights program: Laguna de los Tres - Fitz Roy

The day of activity begins with a short drive to the start of the trail inside the national park, from the place known as Hostería El Pilar. From there we began to walk the path to the Poincenot camp and climb to the Laguna de los Tres. After freely enjoying our time at this viewpoint, we descend to the camp to enjoy some snacks and drinks before dinner. The camp is located in an exclusive area of the national park away from public camping sites, allowing for a comfortable rest surrounded by nature. In addition, it has a dining dome where food service is provided and which functions as a place for rest, recreation and meeting.

Distance: 11 km +650/-400. Duration: 7/8 hours. Level of physical demand: moderate. Services: night at organized camp Poincenot (D, BL, C)

<span>Day 4</span> El Chaltén

We will go back to Chaltén town. Rest of the day free to enjoy the National Capital of Trekking and do the hike to Chorrillo Del Salto: A short walk of approximately 3 hours round trip. Discover the beauty of Chorrillo Del Salto, an impressive waterfall in the middle of the.

<span>Day 5</span>El Chaltén - El Calafate: Kayak La Leona (Private) (Full Day)

A unique experience that allows you to take advantage of the journey between El Chaltén and El Calafate to explore an environment of incredible natural beauty and geological richness. We will sail along the La Leona River, one of the most beautiful in the Patagonian steppe, with stops to enjoy lunch and go trekking on the Los Hornos hill, one of the oldest formations in Patagonia.

We left El Chaltén by private vehicle to the starting point of the tour. At the end, we continued the trip to the hotel in El Calafate.

Level of physical demand: moderate.
