Every animal here has a season, and they barely overlap. What you see depends almost entirely on the month you come.
They arrive at the end of May, fill the gulfs from June, and leave in December. Mothers and calves come close enough to shore at El Doradillo to watch from the beach without a boat.
June to December, no exceptions
Magellanic penguins at Punta Tombo from September to April. Orcas at Punta Norte from February to April. Elephant seals all year, breeding from September.

The only window where the whales are still in the gulf and the penguins have already arrived, with the elephant seals breeding at the same time. Three seasons at once.

This is the most calendar-dependent page on the site. Coming in the wrong month does not make the trip worse; it makes it a different trip.

Half a million Magellanic penguins at Punta Tombo, arriving in September and leaving in April. The chicks are on the ground from November.
Overlaps with the whales in spring
The whales have barely started arriving and the penguins have gone. It is the one month we will tell you to move if your dates are flexible.
The only month we advise against
Months in orange are whale season, which is what this coast is known for. February to April still has the orcas at Punta Norte and the penguins, so those months are far from empty.

The Buenos Aires to Trelew or Puerto Madryn flight is quoted separately or included depending on the package, and your quote states which, with the amount, so the total is clear before you book.
Whales, penguins and sea lions keep their own calendar, and the sea has the last word on a boat departure. If wind holds the whale watching boat, we move it to the next window inside your stay and use the Punta Loma sea lion colony or the El Doradillo shore, where whales come close enough to watch from the beach. Wherever the schedule allows, we rebook the highlight inside your trip at no extra cost.
