Experience Ushuaia’s beauty with a thrilling trek in Tierra del Fuego National Park, canoeing on Lake Escondido, and a Beagle Channel culinary experience. Enjoy breathtaking landscapes, close encounters with nature, and a food tasting hosted by the channel’s captain.
We began our exciting excursion heading north of the island along National Route 3, passing through the renowned Cerro Castor ski resort. Once we crossed the majestic Andes, we plunged into the authentic 4×4 adventure. We faced challenging mud and water paths until we reached the impressive shore of Lake Fagnano. At this time, you will have the opportunity to marvel at the exceptional beauty of this place and its unique energy. After this experience, we ventured even more to blaze new trails and add a touch of adrenaline to our trip. We went into the woods to explore an exclusive area without trails, finally arriving at Lake Escondido, where our refuge is located. At this point, our team will be waiting for you with an authentic Argentinian roast, accompanied by an exquisite Malbec wine. To conclude our day, we split up in pairs and prepared to explore the lake with top quality canoes and specialized equipment.
It is important to note that the order of activities could be modified for operational reasons or weather conditions. In addition, canoe sailing may eventually be suspended for safety reasons, and alternative activities are not foreseen in case of cancellation.
Our passengers will enjoy a morning surrounded by nature, exploring a mountain valley with impressive formations that create an impressive landscape. We started our adventure leaving the city along National Route No. 3 and arrived at the starting point, where we prepared to continue on foot. The walk to the lagoon lasts approximately 2 hours, during which we cross the subantarctic forest, the peat valleys and cross rivers with beaver dams. Once we arrive at the lagoon, we take a moment to appreciate its beauty and unique color, exploring the environment that gives it its special charm. Here we stop to recharge our batteries before starting our return along the same path that brought us here.
The total distance of the route is 9 km, with a positive slope of 300 meters.
We depart from Ushuaia heading north until we reach the detour of the provincial road “J”, which will take us back to the Beagle Channel. We stop at Laguna Victoria for refreshments. Once in Brown Bay, we will take a detour to see the famous flag trees, a peculiarity created by the area's southwestern winds. After spending some time in this place, we will return to the vehicle and head to Puerto Almanza, the main port for artisanal fishermen, where they are mainly dedicated to catching crab. Passing Puerto Almanza, a few kilometers away, we will arrive at the house of one of the most renowned fisherwomen in the area, not only for her activity and trajectory, but also because she is the only captain of the Beagle Channel (Diana). She awaits us at her home to guide us step by step in preparing and tasting the dishes of the surprising Beagle Channel, providing us with an unforgettable gastronomic and social experience.
Free day for optional activities and to continue exploring the island. Depending on your itinerary, our guide will accompany you to the airport for your next flight.
Meals Included: Breakfast.
