One of the areas that stands out from the rest of Argentina for its cultural, scenic and gastronomic offer, far from what you can find in the rest of the country. A variety of options that allows us to make totally unique trips every time we visit the North of Argentina.
On this trip, you will get to know the best of Salta and Jujuy and its scenic beauties in places like San Antonio de los Cobres by taking the world famous Train to the Clouds, the Salinas Grandes salt flats and the Quebrada de Humahuaca from Purmamarca to Humahuaca. During the journey you will be able to visit different villages framed by colorful high altitude landscapes and fill your trip with Andean culture and unforgettable places.
Arriving in Salta, our guide will go to the airport to pick you up and accompany you to your hotel. This day is free to enjoy the city. Once there, we recommend you to visit the historical center of the city, visit the San Bernardo Hill and if you have time, visit the MAAM. Salta is known to be one of the most beautiful cities in South America due to its well preserved colonial architecture. In the evening we recommend having dinner in a traditional peña and tasting the typical dishes such as empanadas, locro and tamales accompanied by Cafayate wines, such as Torrontés among the most famous ones.
Early in the morning we leave on an excursion to San Antonio de Los Cobres to get into the Puna and start our high altitude trekking. During the first few hours we will see the transition between the different landscapes until we reach the highest point, passing San Antonio de Los Cobres. We will follow the same route as the historic train to the clouds along the route to San Antonio de Los Cobres and then continue north along the route to the Salinas Grandes. From here we go down the Cuesta del Lipán to the village of Purmamarca at the entrance to the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Purmamarca is known for being located at the foot of the Siete Colores hill and for being one of the most traditional places in the North, where the Andean culture is exposed to the view of the visitors who walk through the town every day.
On this second day, continuing our tour of the north, we will continue to get to know the Quebrada de Humahuaca in depth. From Purmamarca we will go north to Jujuy to visit the most important places of the Quebrada such as Maimará and the famous Paleta del Pintor, the Pucará de Tilcara where we can see one of the best preserved archaeological sites in the area and we will continue to the picturesque town of Humahuaca. Finally we return to Salta in the afternoon.
Free day to continue enjoying Salta. We recommend combining this trip with any other destination in Argentina to enjoy this beautiful country to the fullest. According to your itinerary, our guide will take you to the airport to continue your trip.
Memorable trip with amazing views
