Established in 1960 to preserve the southernmost region of forests along the Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego National Park covers nearly 69,000 hectares. Despite being one of the most popular excursions, we offer a unique experience: guiding our visitors in small groups along quiet trails and hidden corners of the forest. We depart from Ushuaia along National Route 3 and stop at a panoramic viewpoint of the Beagle Channel.
Then, we entered the Tierra del Fuego National Park and began our walk to the Lapataia Viewpoint. During our tours, we explore trails in this exceptional environment. We offer both morning and afternoon departures, with a duration of approximately 5 hours each. At the end of this half-day hiking experience, you'll have a full understanding of the peculiarities of this ecosystem.
The park is crossed by mountain ranges that divide the terrain into valleys with difficult access. Unlike other Andean-Patagonian parks, it has forests close to the sea coast, which extend for six kilometers along the Beagle Channel. This shapes Lapataia Bay, which in the Yamanian language is translated as “wooded bay” or “bay of good wood”.
We began our yacht journey from the local port to Alicia Island, where we observed a colony of sea lions. Next, we visited Bird Island, home to royal and imperial cormorants and their chicks. Continuing east, we spotted two-haired sea lions near the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, built in 1919. On the return trip, we explored Bridges Island, learning about the Yámanas Aboriginal people and their shell remains. Finally, we ascended to a viewpoint for stunning views of the Beagle Channel and enjoyed refreshments along the way.
