About San Juan

Another magnificent place in San Juan is Pampa El Leoncito or Barreal Blanco, located in the locality of Barreal in Calingasta. This destination consists of a plain of 12 kilometres long and 5 kilometres wide that captivates next to the immensity of the Andes Mountain Range. The area is a mixture of flat landscapes between sierras, Puna plains, mountain ridges and small oasis at high altitude. And also, there is the CASLEO (Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito), an astronomical observatory of the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and the Universidad Nacional de San Juan.
As far as mobility is concerned, the best option for getting around San Juan is to rent a car, as this will allow you to explore the province at your own pace and reach more remote places. You can also opt for a guided tour, which will take you to the highlights of the region. From Argentina Pura, we can provide you with a vehicle.

For accommodation, this destination has a wide variety of lodgings, from luxury hotels to cosy bed and breakfasts. If you are looking for accommodation in nature, we recommend the cabins and mountain refuges. If, on the other hand, you prefer to be close to the city, there are many options of hotels, hostels, houses and flats.
