Depart from El Calafate to Bajo de las Sombras port, situated eight kilometers before Perito Moreno Glacier. Upon arrival, you'll board a vessel to cross the Rico branch of the lake, disembarking at the southwestern coast after a 20-minute journey. Subsequently, you'll access a shelter where guides will organize groups of up to 20 people. Shortly after, a forest hike commences, leading to the glacier. Before stepping onto the ice, guides will fit crampons onto your shoes. The glacier trek lasts approximately one and a half hours, allowing you to observe crevasses, moulins (glacier mills), and small lagoons. The trek's difficulty is moderate, traversing irregular yet secure ice surfaces. The return journey to the port by boat offers a close-up view of the glacier's face. What to bring? Sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable attire, windbreaker, waterproof jacket, gloves, hiking boots, and a boxed lunch.
